How do you choose?

Ultimately when choosing which microphone is best, you need to ask yourself what type of frequency response are you looking for.

A condenser microphone is best suited where vocals and high frequencies need to be captured. This is normally the 1^st choice for studio type applications. The condenser microphone has a thin diaphragm which allows it to pick up the more delicate sounds without distortion. They do require an external power supply like the Phantom Power Supply 48V, however, it is not unheard of to use a 9V battery.

A dynamic microphone is perfect when you expect loud booming noises or extra loud vocals. Dynamic mics don’t require batteries or a phantom power source and are normally a lot more affordable than the condenser type.
